The Blue Rose Foundation was born out of the Blue Rose Benefit concert, first held in June 2014 to honor the spirit and life of our friend Joe Capone by establishing a scholarship fund in his name at Sonoma’s Old Adobe School. We raised over $25,000—enough to fund five half-day, year-round preschool scholarships. Since then we have added new scholarships to five preschools coast to coast.

Investing in early childhood education is not a fad, it is essential for our future. As the Nobel Prize-winning professor of economics, James J. Heckman has shown, investing in pre-kindergarten programs has a significant return on investment to society. It improves literacy rates, highschool graduation rates, and employment rates, as well as reducing delinquency and violence. 

For all children, education is a stone in the path to a successful life. By awarding preschool scholarships to children of low income families, we help provide a stepping stone for children to access the tools they need to reach their full potential and break the low socio-economic cycle.
